MSP430F5529: EPD

Hi, Manish, 

What does EPD stand for? Normally, EPD means embedded product device for semiconductor industrial. There are other meanings in other industry. 

Is the question related to MSP430F5529? We have no EPD module or concept in MSP430F5529. 

Please help to clarify it.

Here EPD means Electrophotoretic display or in simple words you can say that electronic paper display.

E-paper application requests low power consumption. E-paper solution is a good fit application for MSP430 FRAM devices due to the ultra-low power consumption feature. Normally, E-paper module has built-in driver and the interface with MCU is the SPI interface.

Hi Lixin,

The information has been given by you helped me to have a clear pointof view about EPD, but the problem is I'm using a development kit by Pervasive display i.e EPD extension kit G2 thwy have their own development board and they are using MSP430F5529 board for flashing and they are providing very limited resources to work on that. If you have experience regarding those Pervasive display kits then please let me know. I have ported their CCS code to work with IAR it was super challenging but still I got success. Images are usually hex buffer which they are  passing that buffer while flashing. If we have to create our own custom image then there it will have problem. Also pixels information is limited there. Please do not close this thread let this post reach to peoples so that If they are aslo facing same problem we can do something.

Sorry, I have no experience of Pervasive display kits. What is the problem to create the own customer image? I think you may contact Pervasive about these questions. Maybe they can answer your questions quickly since it is their display kits. Another idea is you can search the similar topic in E2E and try to see if there is same questions.

I have tried seraching on E2E forum nobody is using that and coming back to pervasive display either they don't have enough information or they don't want to disclose that. So I came here for help.

I can keep this thread open for more inputs who have the experience of Pervasive display kits. But please note it is better not open for long term. Normally the thread needs to be closed in one month. Please understand us. 

I can also check internally if other people has the Pervasive display kits experience. But please understand it is mostly like no people here know non-TI device if they didn't work on it.

You can close this thread when you feel it is violating your terms and conditions. Till then my request is to keep it open but coming back to the point please try to help me as I have been assigned to a project and if I won't make it work it is trouble for me. We have very less understanding about EPD and the main point is they are not reveling their documents and it is very difficult for us to understand.

I checked with team. There is nobody ever used the Pervasive display kits. Could you share your question details? If the question is related to SPI bus communication, I may help to check it or share some debug experience.

This is the question for the EPD module. The interface with MSP430 is only the SPI. So without EPD module detailed information, I cannot help. Sorry.

Hey Lixin,

I'm clear with the SPI side and it is working very fine. So, meanwhile I will contact them about this matter if any helpful information comes I'll post it here so that others who will try  in future they should not have any issues regarding this topic.
