MSP430FR5869: BSL mass erase response.

Hi All,

I am currently working on MSP430FR5869. Now when I am doing BSL mass erase by sending mass erase command to MCU through UART MCU returns with mass erase fail response. Now when I read the datasheet for MSP430FR5869 it says BSL will not have response. 

So even if it failed there should be no response from MCU or am I wrong? Thank you.

    Hi Yifan,

    In the section of the datasheet you've copied, it says that there will be an ACK with a BSL core response on status. In the description, it says that you can trigger a Mass Erase with an RX Password command containing an incorrect password. Have you tried this?

    Hi Leonardo,

    Thanks for the reply. Does this mean if mass erase is correct MCU will send data 0x00 and if mass erase fail it will send some other data bits? I have tried sending mass erase but MCU reply with data 254 which is 0xfe. I am not sure what does this mean in term of MCU status for mass erase. Thanks.

    Have you tried an RX password command(with incorrect password?)
