DRV8846: DRV8846 1/2 step setting and 1/4 step setting

Part Number: DRV8846

Dear Expert,

Good day!

Our customer use the DRV8846 in their application , when they test the full step mode (500pps), the device work fine ,

But when they set the device in 1/4 step , (M0=1 , M1=0) ,1000pps , the motor speed become very slow .

They also want to test the 1/2 step ,(M0=Z ,M1=0) ,1000pps , the test result is same to full step 1000pps .

Here is the schematic ,

Could you help me to check , is there any solutions ?

  • Leon,

In 1/4 step, in order to see the same speed as full step, you must multiply the "pps" by 4.  So, you need to try 2000pps at 1/4 step to see the same speed as 500pps in full step.

Additionally, the effective current in the micro-step modes will be lower than full step.  It may be necessary to raise the full scale current in the micro-step modes to achieve proper motor movement.
