DRV8833C: Ichop confirm

Part Number: DRV8833C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8833

Hi Team,

My customer now use DRV8833C in printer solution (phase register is 10 ohm and current is 300mA)

① Customer now both AISEN and BISEN are connected to GND. How big is the Ichop current instantly? Is it 5V/10Ω=500mA? Or bigger? Can 8833C bear it?
② If the instantaneous current is very large, do customer need to connect a 1~2Ω resistor to AOUT1 or AOUT2 to increase the current limit when designing?

  • Amelie,

    1. If the output resister is 10ohm, the output current is 5V/10Ω=500mA. Since DRV8833's sense resister is shorted, the output current won't be limited by DRV8833. It will be limited by the input voltage and the output resister.

    2. If the motor terminal has a big capacitor, the instantaneous current could be very high. In general, the terminal should not have a big capacitor. So, I won't think customers need to put an extra 1~2Ω resistor to AOUT1 or AOUT2.

    Regards,

    Wang
