DRV8308:Stopped by using a 20m DC extension cable

Part Number: DRV8308

I drove a brushless DC motor with a 20m DC cable and it stopped after a few seconds. However, if it is 17m, it will work without any problem. Please tell me why.

  • Hi Nakamura-san,

Long cables add inductance to the supply. When motor is starting, spinning, or stopping, supply inductance can make it difficult to provide energy to the motor when it is changing current. Adding more bulk capacitance to the system should overcome supply inductance issues.

    Thanks,
