DRV8306: Ways of fast braking

Hi team,

Customer currently stops motor's rotating by using the nBRAKE pin (H to L). But the motor we are using has very low friction, so it takes a long time to stop.

Is there any way to make this brake faster by DRV8306 settings, etc.?

    Hi Hideki-san,

    Unfortunately the nBRAKE setting is a fixed setting that turns on the low-side MOSFETs to brake the motor (low side braking). Perhaps increasing the IDRIVE setting to turn on the low-side MOSFETs faster will help? I am assuming coasting the motor (setting ENABLE low) makes it even longer to stop the motor.

    If this an inherent property of the motor, it's likely not possible brake the motor faster if low side braking still takes too long to stop the motor.
