DRV11873: An automotive alternative to DRV11873

Part Number: DRV11873
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10982-Q1, DRV10983-Q1, MCT8316Z-Q1

Hi team

Could you help give an automotive device with similar spec to DRV11873? My customer chosen DRV11873 on a prototype board and now the customer needs a automotive device for the mass production.

Just let me know if you have any questions.

  • Hi Shawn,

Thanks for reaching out via our e2e motor drivers forum -

    • We will look into this question and aim to provide a response by end of the week.

As a preliminary answer, dropping off some resources and comments below:

  • Hello Shawn,

I will provide some more information on the two options provided by Andrew.

The DRV10983-Q1 is a sensorless (no Hall sensors required) 3-phase motor drivers with fully integrated MOSFETS and an integrated sinusoidal control. It has a 28-V max rating and a 3-A peak current rating. Sinusoidal control will help reduce noise compared to the DRV11873 using 150-degree trapezoidal control. You could also try the DRV10982-Q1 if you would like a higher combined low-side and high-side MOSFET Rds(on).

If you are open a sensored solution (using Hall-Effect sensors), an integrated trapezoidal control driver like the MCT8316Z-Q1 will be good recommendation. It is ideal for driving 12V BLDC motors and has a peak current rating of 8A.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best Regards,
    Akshay
