DRV8328: Heat problem in DRV8328 and mosfet

Hi Dinh,

Could you tell me part number of the MOSFETs you are using? I cannot the MOSFETs part number on the schematic.

I use 2 difference part. the first one: https://www.diodes.com/assets/Datasheets/DMT12H007LPS.pdf

the other: https://www.lcsc.com/product-detail/MOSFETs_HUAYI-HYG025N06LS1C2_C2827231.html

Both are hot, but the first one hotter than about 8oC.

We do have a Gate Resistor Calculator tool for the DRV8328 that you can use to find the best gate resistors for your system.

Please take a look at these resources, if you have not already, while I investigate further.

1. What were some of the other drivers that you have used that did not have this heating issue?
2. Could you provide me a capture of PVDD during normal operation of the device? 
3. Could you provide me the temperatures when everything is operating but without sending PWMs?
4. Could you provide me the temperatures when everything is operating while sending PWMs?

Hi Johua. 

1. I used TMC6200 and not got heat issue

2. Here is capture of PVDD

3. Temperatures when no have PWM: DRV8328: 38oC. MOSFET1 (DMT12H007LPS) 35oC. MOSFET2(HYG025N06LS1C2)  35oC (room temperature 30oC)

4. Temperatures when have PWM (no load, board turn on for 10 minute): DRV8328: 62.5oC. MOSFET1 (DMT12H007LPS) 67oC. MOSFET2(HYG025N06LS1C2)  60oC

5. Here is voltage at gate of half bridge Mosfet. (yeallow: mosfet low side, purple: high side)

I have read over them but nothing met my problem.

I have used Gate Resistor Calculator tool but this can not help solve problem.

Hi All,

I suspect that temperature rise may be caused by switching losses due to RC input filters of CSAs. I would increase R19, R23 etc. value around 100 times and lower caps C23,C25,C26 etc. value accordingly. It might be worth to disconnect all above mentioned resistors for a test without a motor connected.
