UC1637: SHDN pin biasing?

Part Number: UC1637

I am trying to determine if an any damage would be sustained in an application circuit.

Consider this setup:

I power this chip from +/-5VDC.  The SHDN pin may see up to 9VDC but limited to 800uA.

Is it OK?

Will this current be clamped by the internal diode to +VCC?

  • Hello,

This would violate the abs. max. specification of the device and reliability can't be guaranteed.  I would externally clamp it with a TVS to be safe and not rely on the internal ESD diode to save the device.

    Regards,
