DRV10970: Viability of using this motor driver for a motor that I am currently running with a DRV10975

I have been using a DRV10975 to drive a motor with 0.19mH ph-ph inductance and 0.5 Ohms ph-ph resistance from a 3-cell LiPo (11.1V nominal). I have been having trouble with controlling the motor at lower speeds due to the DRV10975 being a sensorless driver. I wanted to look into using the DRV10970 for the same purpose, but was worried about the lower current limit. The DRV10970 lists 1.0A continuous and 1.5A peak current limit versus the 1.5A continuous and 2.0A peak limit of the DRV10975. While driving the motor (I have high acceleration requirements) the motor pulls around 1.8A during acceleration but in some cases can pull up to 2.2A momentarily. I was looking through the datasheet of the DRV10970 it looked like most of the electrical maximums were similar to the DRV10975, so I was wondering if I could use the DRV10970 instead without issues.
