DRV8343-Q1: Behavior When VREF Fault

The VREF pin supplies the bias for the current sense amplifiers. If this pin were to be left floating or fail, the output from the current sense output pins SOx would not be valid to read anymore.

Additionally, the Q1 automotive rating for the DRB8343 just means that the device can withstand a larger temperature range than non-automotive rated versions. So, I believe we do not have an FMA document for this particular device.

The nFAULT pin and status registers do not report a failure of the VREF pin itself, but they will report the VSENSE overcurrent fault which is dependent on the current being measured across the external source sense resistors attached to the current sense amplifiers. The list of faults reported by the device can be seen in Table 9 of the DRV8343-Q1’s datasheet. Additionally, based on the formula provided for the current sense amplifier output in the datasheet, if the output you are reading does not make sense for what you would expect it could indicate that the VREF input has an issue.

As for the pin FMA, if we do have this document it would appear in the devices' PPAP documentation.
