DRV8307: How to increase motor torque with DRV8307?

Part Number: DRV8307

I am using the DRV8307 to drive a BLDC (brushless DC) motor with 3 Hall sensors distributed at 120 degrees. The motor provides high torque at high speeds, but the torque is significantly reduced at low speeds. How can I increase the torque at low speeds? Thank you.

  • Hi Tom,

The current available to the motor can affect the torque that the motor can produce. We recommend checking your Rsense value to make sure that the current is not being limited. Please refer to section 8.2.2 of the DRV8307's datasheet for information on determining the Rsense resistor value based on the desired current.

    Regards,
