DRV8210: Use as a voltage tripler

Helping a customer come up with a low current boost circuit. Need a voltage tripler to go from 3.3V to >7V for bias to an LDO to end up at a clean 6.0V.

Below is a logic gate version I came up with using TINA.

I'd like to replace the XOR gates with the outputs of the DRV8210, then use the PH input to drive the outputs 180 degrees out of phase to operate to charge pump.

Any concerns doing something like this? Do you have a SPICE model you could send me (internally is fine) that I could use to model this? Thanks! -Steve

Hello,

That seems plausible to me. Those supply constraints are safely within the 1.65V-11V operating range, and I think phase/enable control will work like you say. Solid idea!

Unfortunately we don't have any SPICE models for this driver or any other motor driver in this exact family. The best I can recommend is testing it out with an EVM.

Please find attached simulation. Main concern here is if we can toggle PH at 100 kHz, 50% duty cycle. Seems to be OK per the datasheet. Please confirm.

We do have model for the DRV8837. It is in the product folder.

That should at least let you simulate the behavior of the DRV8210.

Toggling phase at 100kHz and 50% is no issue.
