DRV8462: The stepper is not driven properly

Part Number: DRV8462

Hi Team,

The customer use SPI to drive two-step motors with up to 1ms sending two pulses.

When three pulses are sent in 1ms, the motor speed is slower than the two pulses (SPI uses a baud rate of 1M or 8M and does not reach the maximum speed of the motor, automatic microstepping mode is not used and Auto-torque mode is not used).

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hi Cherry,

Thanks for the post. Could you please verify the following?

    1. Idle state for the STEP input is zero.

    2. To move a step using SPI command customer does the following sequence, STEP = 1 via SPI, then a delay, then STEP = 0, then another instance of the same delay before applying next STEP.

This sequence should move the motor by one step.
