MCF8329EVM: Unable to spin motor with I2C control with Motor Studio

Part Number: MCF8329EVM

I was able to run MPET successfully, which moves the "next" cursor to the spin motor section however it is greyed out. Using the I2C controls in the sidebar also does not work. I'm able to read registers just fine so I think communication is working. I have all the jumpers configured as instructed in the getting started guide, can someone confirm what the correct setting is for SPEED_SEL? Should it still be in the middle position to work directly from the pot? Regardless I've tried all 3 settings and still no success.

  • Figured it out just after posting. It seems the solution is to turn the pot all the way counter-clockwise with SPEED_SEL in the middle position. Then when I2C speed control is enabled it acts on top of that. The "Spin Motor" section is still greyed out but that seems to just be a GUI issue. The controls in the sidebar work fine.
