I'm trying to run MPET in the motor studio application, but I keep getting CONTROLLER_Fault and MPET_BEMF_FAULT with fault values, is there any way to solve it?

    I ran into a similar problem, after repeated tries manually clearing the faults it eventually completed MPET. It gave me a usable BEMF value but bad PID values, KI was way too high and the motor would fault when trying to spin. Other times it gave me a bad BEMF value and made horrible noises during MPET but when combined with the previous BEMF constant the PID values proved good.

    Would love to hear from TI on how to solve this more repeatably. I was going to work through the tuning tips from the MCF8316A tuning guide when I have time, section 3.6.2 talks about MPET BEMF faults.

    Could you please follow the video and let me know if you are able to move past the MPET step. If MPET still has issue completing successfully, then we might have to try hand measuring the motor parameters and entering them manually. Please refer to this E2E FAQ. I believe both Wye wound and Delta wound motors can be measured in the same way.

    We are also actively working on updating the GUI to make this step less confusing.

    Hello Eric, I enjoyed your video. I think the data sheet that Eric is looking at is MCF8329A, not MCF3289EVM. Is that right? Is there no problem if I identify MCF3289EVM through the data sheet

    Hi jw_ko,

    Yes, please refer to the MCF8329A Device Datasheet for primary information on the driver features, register map, etc. The MCF8329EVM User's Guide mainly provides information about using the evaluation board, rather than going in depth about the motor driver's features.
