DRV8213: Failure Modes on the IPROPI Pin

Part Number: DRV8213

Hello,

To understand the failure modes of the IPROPI pin of the DRV8213, I wanted to ask if either of the configurations occurring in an instantaneous event would damage with the IPROPI clamp and VREF value or overall performance of the device when VM has a minimum value of 4 VDC. I understand that both these voltages fall within the tolerances of the IPROPI pin given these values, but I wanted to confirm if them being applied independent of the ISEN1 and ISEN2 values could affect anything:

Thank you.

  • Hey Matthew,

I have conferred with the systems engineer and we agree that the cases you proposed will not damage the device.

I recommend not putting a voltage on the IPROPI pin greater than the VREF voltage - so if your VREF is 2.5V, don't put 2.6V on it.  But if VREF is 3.3V then 2.5V should be fine.  If this is a case you might encounter in your circuit let me know and I can test it in the lab.

    Best,

    Jacob
