Hello,

I'm looking for a way to use the BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS at a constant speed with varying loads. The BOOSXL_DRB823X GUI used with the MSP-EXP430F5529LP doesn't appear to have any feature to set a constant speed (only duty cycle, not speed) for a closed loop system. The F28069m with Instaspin might allow a closed loop, constant speed operation, but I'm looking to use trap-control w/ hall effect sensors, not FOC.

Hey Micheal,

The SW for our GUI works, as you mentioned, to spin the motor based on the duty cycle. Firmware modification would be needed to create a speed control architecture.

Is there any feature that you need to set a constant speed but MSP-EXP430F5529LP doesn't have?

There is enough timer on MSP430 to control the DRV8323 and capture the motor speed.

I think you need to develop a firmware by your self. Maybe the GUI driver code on MSP430 will help you.

Hey Helic,

Yes, the FW will need to be developed but it should be possible to achieve speed control using the driver.

Our MCT8316z lets you input the speed as a PWM if this product interests you.
