TIDA-050063: Compatibility with 400V System

Part Number: TIDA-050063

Hi

I am looking for an active pre-charge circuit for a 400V battery system powering a motor controller and came across this reference design.  Please confirm if this reference design is compatible for a 400V battery, 3.9mF DC link capacitor, and required charging time 200ms.

  • Hello Solan,

    Thanks for joining E2E and checking with our team. Slight smile

    • The reference design by default is configured for delivering 4-A of average current so it will charge 3.9-mF to 400-V in 390 ms.
    • To charge 3.9-mF to 400-V in 200 ms, that would require 7.8-A of average current.
    • You would first need to find a suitable inductor (such as 1140-121K-RC which is 120-uH)
    • You would also need to modify the hysteresis values so the average current is 7.8-A or greater (such as 0.5-A to 16.5-A)
      • This would correspond to R1 --> 137.35-Ω, R2 --> 4.29-Ω, R3 --> 2.05-Ω

    Best regards,
