MCF8316AEVM: MPET not measuring parameters , POT & PWM Pin not working

Hi,

I have MCF8316AEVM serious motor driver to drive drone bldc motors. Our bldc motor is 2900kv, max 10200 rpm, and max current is 5A. I couldn't drive that motor with EVM board.

I followed documents which are shared in the product page (tuning guide and user guide) but the result is same. We want to use that motor driver in our motor control board at the end.

I also tried different motor which is popular in gimbal application called GM3506, but again I failed.

Main problem is that MPET is not working, POT button is not working, and external PWM signal pin not working. In my board firmware I2C in not activated. So may anyone help me, please?

Hi Samet,

When MPET fails, could you please check what fault flag gets triggered in the Fault status panel?

If the motor datasheet provides motor resistance, inductance, and back-EMF constant, you can also enter those values manually to bypass MPET.

Hi Eric,

In my last test I used GM3506, with MCF8316AEVM(not I2C) & Motor Studio 0.9.1. I setup my board and connection as indicated. Than quick spin part I load default presets. Than select rpm option with 2100 rpm, 60% current rating and 11 pole pairs. Pushed the MPET button. After get MPET IPD FAULT and Controller FAULT.

Hi Samet,

Could you please try following section 3.6.1 of the MCF8316A Tuning Guide and hand measure the motor phase resistance and inductance? Then manually enter the values into the Resistance and Inductance boxes under MPET Results before pressing the "Run MPET" button?
