MCF8329EVM: EVA board not dected in Motor Studio GUI

Hello,

just got the MCF8329EVM and tryed to connect via USB with PC, but is is not detected by Motor Studio GUI SW.

I tryed many times to connect but no success, since this is recommended in this post: MCF8329EVM: GUI does not recognize EVM. - Motor drivers forum - Motor drivers - TI E2E support forums

(The attached motor is spinning, but of coarse the motor parameters are not yet set)

Which version of Motor Studio are you using?

Also, are you able to see the manufacture as FTDI if you look at the properties of the USB port on device manager?

Yes, I can see the manufacture as FTDI in the device manager.

I'm using this version of Motor Studio:

My MCF8329EVM board is revision 1.0

According to the box it is

LOT: 3013796KRY

SEAL DT 09/07/23

We have a new version (v0.1.15) of Motor Studio which has improved connection code, although it is still in development and may contain some bugs. You can download this new version of Motor Studio here:

Hello Joshua,

thank you for providing the new version of MotorStudio.
With this updated MotorStudio, I can connect to the MCF8329EVM .

Might there be any issues because of outdated firmware of the MCF8329EVM integrated MSP430 now or later? Can I read the actual firmware version with the MotorStudio SW? Just asking because we don't have an eZ-FET debug probe yet.

Hi Mathias,

We have not made any updates to the MSP430 FW so you should not need to update the firmware within the EVMs MSP430FR2355. Currently we have not found any bugs related to the MSP430 firmware so, at this time, we do not expect to release a new version of the firmware in the future.

Motor Studio does not have a way to read the FW version in the MSP430.
