Hi,

My customer is reviewing 150W motor drivers.

Application : Car Electric Water Pump

Customers have two specifications.

1. BLDC Motor

- FOC ready Code-Free Smart Driver

- 150W (Operating Voltage : BATT 12V)

- Diagnostic functions: motor overcurrent, motor open circuit, motor short circuit, IC over temperature

2. DC Motor F/Bridge

- 150W (Operating Voltage : BATT 12V)

- Diagnostic functions: motor overcurrent, motor open circuit, motor short circuit, IC over temperature

Hi Cho,

Would you mind sharing your SoP? We currently are working to release an automotive rated version of the MCF8329A in Q2 of 2024. The MCF8329A-Q1 will integrate an FOC algorithm and is external FET so it can operate at 150W.

For the DC Motor recommendation, I have notified our bushed motor drivers team so they can provide you a recommendation.

Is it 150 W continuous or how long does this power requirement last? Who is the customer?

The DRV8245 might be a good fit for this application. It offers these protection and diagnostic features:

However, based on the power requirement. Two DRV8145's might be a better fit, and it has the same protection and diagnostic features as the DRV8245.

Another option would be to use one of our smart gate drivers: DRV871x or the DRV8706, which comes with the following protection features:
