DRV8316C: Charge Pump Capacitor

Hi, in the datasheet, the CP pin has this description: Charge pump output. Connect a X5R or X7R, 1-µF, 16-V ceramic capacitor between the CP and VM pins.

If VM = 35V, is a 16-V rated capacitor still appropriate?

    Hi Kelly,

    You definitely need a higher rated capacitor. Make sure the voltage rating of your capacitor is well over the voltage that might be introduced to it otherwise your capacitor will probably "de-rate". I'd suggest getting a rating that accounts for VM + VCP voltage (a little higher wouldn't hurt though I know price also becomes a factor at this point)

    Thanks Yara!  You may want to consider an update the datasheet here as people may design their boards based on these recommendations.
