DRV8256: Itrip accuracy

Part Number: DRV8256

Team,

My customer is thinking to use DRV8256 between 0.1A ~ 0.5A. I have some questions here;

1. Does DRV8256 have capability to drive BDC motor at such small current?
2. If yes, what is Itrip accuracy between 0.1A ~ 0.5A? There are Itrip accuracy information in the electrical characteristics table but no information less than 0.5A.

Thanks,
Nobuhiko Wasa

  • Hi Nobuhiko,

    1. The current required would depend on the BDC motor. When the H-bridge is enabled, current rises through the winding at a rate dependent on the DC voltage, inductance of the winding, and the magnitude of the back EMF present. Estimated calculations can be made with resistance and inductance of the motor.

    2. We do not have the data on accuracy from 0.1 A to 0.5 A. It is difficult to say with certainty, but it will be greater than +-12%.

    Best,

    David
