DRV8899-Q1: register CTRL5

Part Number: DRV8899-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8889-Q1,

Compared with DRV8889, DRV8899's register CTRL5 becomes reserved.

  • Does it mean that the STALL detection is removed, and DRV8899's OL_TIME defaults to 200ms?
  • Similarly, does the value of EN_SR_BLANK default to 0, which means that the blanking time is 500ns?

  • Hi,

Thank you for your questions. Our expert will feedback to you in a day or two.

  • Hi Ray,

Only stall function related registers are reserved in the DRV8899-Q1 compared to the DRV8889-Q1, else identical. Only the DRV8889A-Q1 (the 'A' version of the device) has the option for OL_TIME and EN_SR_BLANK programming.

For the non-A DRV8889-Q1 and the DRV8899-Q1 the OL_TIME tOL is specified in the datasheet electrical characteristics table which is 200 ms. Likewise EN_SR_BLANK is fixed 500 ns.

Also in the DRV8889A-Q1 device DIS_OUT default value is inverted compared to the other variants. This is mentioned in the datasheet. Thanks.

    Regards, Murugavel
