DRV8343-Q1: Unused pin

Part Number: DRV8343-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8300

Hi Team

Please tell me about unused pin processing of DRV8343-Q1.
It has a circuit configuration in which one of the three half bridges is unused.

The datasheet contains the following information:
"If a half-bridge is not used, the gate pins (GHx and GLx) can stay unconnected and the sense pins (SHx and DLx) can be tied directly or with a resistor to GND."

However, the following description is in the past E2E.
1) INHx/INLx - tie to GND or float
2) Tie GHx to SHx
3) Tie DLx, GLx, and SLx together

Which connection is better?

Please tell me if the data sheet references are different.

  • Hi Manabu,

    Thank you for your question.

While there are many ways to connect the pins of the driver's unused phase, I would recommend following the datasheet for this, as this method was specifically written with device in mind. I would also add to tie the INHx/INLx pins together and tie to GND.

The E2E method as linked above is also valid, but as a definitive statement I would refer to this E2E FAQ where this specific topic is addressed and includes a comprehensive list of pins and where to tie them when unused based on the DRV8300 architecture: e2e.ti.com/.../faq-quick-guide-to-debugging-common-issues-in-bldc-motor-drivers

Hope this information has been helpful.

    Best Regards,
