MCF8329A: Motor Studio Usage issues

Hi,

   I set the maximum speed of the motor to 320Hz, but the observer can only estimate the maximum speed (Speed FDBK) to 280Hz.At this time, the power supply voltage is 12V.

   However, when I increase the power supply voltage, the Speed FDBK will increase.

   Does this mean that this motor can only reach a maximum speed of 280Hz at 12V?

  • Hi Chuanlin,

    If increasing the closed loop [ILIMIT] doesn't result in an increase in motor speed, then yes, this means the device is in voltage saturation.

    You can also confirm this by reading the applied modulation index in the [VOLT_MAG] register and calculating the mod index percentage using the equation below. If the applied modulation index is 100%, then the motor speed is limited by your supply voltage.

    First of all, I used a speed loop.

    1. Changing the [ILIMIT] parameter does not affect the speed

    2. The parameter 0x650B did not reach 100% according to the formula calculation

    3. May I ask which parameters can be adjusted?

    Could you please attach your latest register configuration json file?

    I'm curious what your motor parameters are and what the [PWM_FREQ_OUT] is set to. Sometimes, on lower inductance motors, the [PWM_FREQ_OUT] may need to be set higher to perform better.
