    We have tried the default parameters, but it will be always reporting below errors, even we tried to adjust the settings following the tuning guide, but it doesn't work. Can you help to guide us how to tune this motor from customer?

  • Hi Jacky,

    If following the instructions in the MCF8315A tuning guide did not help to resolve this fault, I recommend disabling MPET_IPD_SELECT and increasing IPD_CURR_THR until fault is no longer reported. During this debug process, I recommend using the MPET page in Motor Studio. Using this page will only run MPET once and not force it to continuously retry like the quick spin MPET button does.

    Having BEMF, Kp and Ki populated on the right and only have the Resistance and Inductance switches (bottom right) in the ON position will only measure resistance and inductance. Once R and L are measured by MPET, enable only the BEMF switch and run MPET again. Repeat this switch enable for the speed gains once the BEMF is able to be measured.

    If the fault still gets reported even if IPD_CURR_THR is set close to the motors rated max phase current, then the values which MPET could not measure will need to be entered manually. The value can come from either the datasheet or hand measured using the instructions in the MCF8315A tuning guide.
