DRV8825: About DRV8825 thermal management

Hi teams

My customer recently wants to select DRV8825 in their application. The input voltage is 36V and they require to continue use in 2.5A peak current. 

They are very concern about the temperature rise. They want to know will it possible to achieve 45~55 degree temperature rise in room temperature.(They hope the case temperature don't exceed 80C in 25C room temperature without heatsink) They can accept 4 layer PCB board with larger GND plant and big PCB size (about 1 dollar bill size). I wondering to know will they possible to achieve this ?

    This temperature may be difficult to achieve. I suggest obtaining a DRV8825EVM for evaluation. The PCB has large copper planes and 4 layers. If the EVM cannot achieve the desired temperature, a smaller board probably will not.
