BOOST-DRV8711: Optimizing BOOST-DRV8711 settings for attached stepper motor

Part Number: BOOST-DRV8711

I have a TIDA-00261-BOOST-DRV8711 evaluation board that I am trying to see if the components are sufficient to operate the attached stepper motor. Without too many tweaks in the settings I could operate the motor but the motor would get fairly hot. The stepper was also slipping and missing steps during acceleration. Could anyone suggest any settings for my stepper that could solve the heat and missed steps issues I am having?PKP268D28M-L-StepperMotor.pdf
