Hi all,

I've request from texas the samples of MSP430G2553 & DRV8873S because I would to try it on my sample board and see how this component work with the GUI etc.. I follow the same circuit with the FT230X and the MSP430G220 but when I connect the USB to the PC it recognise it as FDTI usb but if I use the CCS to program the MSP with the example firmware posted on TI website I cannot find the MSP. There's a dedicated program? If I use the DRV8873X EVM I see the correct COM port but the button CONNECT is gray and if I click on it nothing changes.

Hi Lorenzo,

Are you trying to program the MSP through the USB? The USB path is intended for GUI communications.

The 4 pin J3 connector next to the USB is the programming path. A MSP430G2 Launchpad can be connected to the J3 connector as shown in the image below.

The EVM in the image is a DRV8308EVM, but the connection is the same. The 4 middle pins of the six are used to communicate. Once programmed, the MSP430G2553 should then be able to communicate via USB through the FTDI device.

I've an MSP-EXP430G2 rev 1.4, I've made this connection VCC,GND,TST,RST I'm trying with CCS to program but it gives me the error "Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified port"..

Please perform a search for "Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified port". There is much information on the MSP forum.

Ok solved, I've use uniflash to download the firmware now the GUI works! Thanks.
