DRV8307EVM: Confirm if the lock detection feature can be disable by some control

Part Number: DRV8307EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8307, , DRV8306

Hi team,

We have a customer looking for a brushless DC motor (BLDC) drive board to control the actuator in an EGR valve module onboard their tested engine.
The actuator is a 3-phase, brushless DC motor equipped with Hall sensors for feedback, and they would like to conduct a position control (a certain amounts of rotations as for the motor) on the poppet valve expecting the motor can maintain a torque control thereafter it stops at some location with zero speed (because there is a spring pushing the valve back to the closure position, the motor has to push against the spring to maintain at somewhere for a steady opening).

The customer wants the following feature:
- Drive board with 12-14V power supply and 5V power supply for the Hall-effect sensors.
- Drive board should be able to control the speed and torque by PWM signal
- Use their own controller (a Dspace Autobox connecting with simulink in laptop) so that they can design their feedback control.

Initially, the DRV8307EVM has the features of the customer but there is a lock detection feature in DRV8307. It will reset the control signal after the motor is locked for a certain period of time but that is exactly opposite to the customer requirement. Can they disable that feature by some control? Or is there any other BLDC driver EVM without this kind of feature? Is there any drive board with the capability to control the holding torque or to brake the motor when standstill?

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks!

Jonathan
