DRV10970: VILIM_THR and ACL

Hi,

Our customer wants to know if the value for VILIM_THR and ACL would stay the same for VM=5V or 6V. On the datasheet, it shows that this vales are for VM=12V. I would appreciate if you could confirm the values for VM=5V or 6V.

In addition to this, we would like to know the lower and higher limit for ILim for this device. Our customer wants it to be set on 0.5A. Would it be possible?

Hi Cedrick,

VILIM_THR and ACL are constants so it should be the same for Vm=5V or 6V. Ilim is set based on the below equation:

Ilimit=(VILIM_THR *ACL )/RCS. The equation should hold true for Rs less than 20Kohms. So it will not be possible to set to 0.5A.

Can you share with us the min-max value of RCS that can be used for DRV10970?

You have stated that "Ilimit=(VILIM_THR *ACL )/RCS. The equation should hold true for Rs less than 20Kohms." however the RCS used on the EVM is 24kohms. I would appreciate if you could confirm this information..

Hi Cedrick,

Correction! The external resistor value Rcs is chosen based on the current limit to be achieved. In your case Rcs will be 60 kohm to set current limit threshold to 0.5A.
