there is a new datasheet from DRV8436. i saw that open load detection has been dropped.
my problem is that the line nFault is set when i change the direction of the motor. the error message remains set, but i can still drive the motor.
have there been problems with the open load detection?

    Horst,

    The open load detection function has been removed for the new DRV8436. So, I would think you may have an old version device.

    Would you share the IC trace code or IC top marking to see if it is an old version device? If it is an EVM, did you buy it before 8/10? If you buy the EVM  early than 8/10, you would have an old version device.

    BTW, the new version DRV8436EVM was just released on ti.com this week.
