DRV2511Q1EVM: Power Supply range to DRV2511

Part Number: DRV2511Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2511-Q1

Hello,

I have buy a DRV2511Q1EVM, in the documentation of the evaluation board indicates that the VSupply through J5 for the DRV2511 is in the range of [4.5 - 26]V, however looking at the specific DRV2511 datasheet, is indicated that the Vsupply shoud be in the trange of [4.5 - 18]V.

Please, could you confirm if I am able to work with the DRV2511Q1EVM up to 26 volts applied through J5?

Thank you in advance

Regards,

  • Hello,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

This is a good observation. Thank you for pointing it out.

As you mentioned, it is recommended to work with a Vsupply range of 4.5V to 18V. Actually, the EVM schematic shows this range:

My guess is that probably the EVM designer just considered the regulator input range, which can be as high as 26V.

Based on the absolute maximum ratings of the DRV2511-Q1, it shouldn't be damaged since it is below the maximum voltage it can handle (30V). However, in order to get the best device performance, it should be limited to the maximum recommended 18V as you clearly mentioned.

I will work to have this document updated in order to avoid future conflicts.

Thank you again for your feedback. Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments on this.

    Best regards,
