DRV2605: ERM is abnormal

Part Number: DRV2605

Hi Team,

The customer is experiencing below issue and needs your help.

After USB connection and power on, enter Mode Off mode, touch B1 and B2, the ERM does not vibrate. No matter what mode is switched, there is no movement in the ERM, but everything is normal for the linear motor.

Customer would like to know how to resolve this issue? And how to determine whether this problem is caused by ERM failure?

Thanks,

Annie

  • Hey Annie,

I would first probe the ERM terminals on the back of the actuator to see if the correct waveforms are reaching the ERM, which would definitively tell you if the ERM is the cause of the problem or not.

If the customer already did that I would recommend try just applying an external DC voltage at the ERM terminals to see if it moves. If the ERM still does not work it would be clear that it is the source of the problem.

  • Hi Carson ,

The customer has tried to apply voltage to the end of the ERM, and the motor does not rotate. He applies the same voltage to another ERM of the same model, and it rotates normally. In this way, it can be judged that the ERM has problem.

    Thanks,

    Annie
