DRV2605: Device Considerations/Recommendation

Part Number: DRV2605
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2624, DRV2604,

Hey Team,

I have a customer that is looking at the DRV2605 for haptic FB on a touch keypad. The library effects may be slightly overkill, but we are thinking it may be easier than implementing some others (DRV2624 / DRV2604).

We have a few questions:

  • Is there a device that we may want to consider over the DRV2605?
  • What is the difference between the 2605 and the 2605L?
  • Is there a reason to get one over the other?
  • Which package should I choose for cost and availability (DRV2605YZFR seems to be best option)?

Thanks for the help!

Best,
Dajon McGill

  • Hi, Dajon,

The haptics driver selection is dependent of the solution you are looking for. A great advantage of the DRV26x5 over the rest of devices is the library effects as you correctly mentioned. These effects can be used in sequence if required.

However, if you require to create your own effects in voltage/time pairs, the DRV26x4 would be the best choice.

In both cases, there's no need to pay for additional licenses or permissions.

I recommend to take a look at this FAQ for additional details about the different haptics products that we support.
