"What are good layout practices for your motor driver IC?"
This is a question frequently asked to TI's motor driver team. Poor layout can result in poor EMI performance, poor thermal performance, or sometimes the motor driver device just doesn't work correctly. Some of the mysterious issues that appear to cause incorrect device operation can be traced back to poor layout. The application note linked below is a compilation of best practices for creating PCB layouts for motor drivers. We use these practices ourselves to design the evaluation modules for our products.
We hope you find this application note informative and helpful for your motor driver designs!
