TPS6521845: Replace the TPS65218D0 with TPS6521845.

Part Number: TPS6521845
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218D0, TPS65218

HI TI!

We have a PCB design with the TPS65218D0. For a new production can we replace the TPS65218D0 with the TPS6521845? (Without making changes to the PCB or BoM).
Maybe I just have to reprogram the chip via I2C, but it should not be a problem.

My doubt is because on page 2 of the TPS6521845 datasheet they put the inductor of L1 and L2 with value of 1.5uH (same as TPS65218D0/15/25, ) and L5 with value of 10 uH (different from TPS65218D0/15/25).
However on page 20 of the TPS6521845 datasheet they put the inductor of L1 and L2 with value of 10uH (different from TPS65218D0/15/25, ) and L5 with value of 10 uH (same as TPS65218D0/15/25).

Please see the attached picture.

Also on page 20 of the TPS6521845 dataseet the pull up voltage levels for pgood and nWakeUp are swapped with respect to the TPS65218D0/15/25 dataseet. Please check the attached image.

I think these are datasheet editing errors and the chip can be replaced without problems. But we prefer to confirm with TI.

Thank you very much.

Best regards

  • Hi,

The TPS65218D0 is pin-to-pin compatible with TPS6521845 and there should not be any issue with maintaining the BOM used for TPS65218D0. One thing to note is that the TPS6521845 is specifically programmed to meet the needs of the i.MX 6Solo/ 6DualLite. If you are using those processors, no additional programming is required. If you are looking to program multiple settings for the TPS65218xx, you are best using the DIY PMIC TPS6521815.

    Best,
    Emily

  • HI!
