TPS54386: Using one output of the converter

Part Number: TPS54386

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer is planning to use only one output of the converter.  He think its possible by putting the \EN2 to high level, and \EN1 to low level.
And by connecting the PVDD1, BOOT1, SW1, GND, FB1, BP, SEQ, ILIM2. Also, leaving not connected the PVDD2, BOOT2, SW2 and FB2.
Will this work ?

Also, the inductors used on the example on the datasheet is different from those used on the EVM. Was it because they are designed at different output current levels? Could you provide more details?

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • Hi, Art

    I am a little confused.

Which channel do you want to use? It is channel2, right?

But why do you "connecting the PVDD1, BOOT1, SW1"?

    2. Yes, for the different inductance, it is because they are designed at different loading.

  • Hi Zhao

The customer uses channel 1, so /EN1 should be connected to low. and /EN2 should be connected to high level.

  • Hi Art

    1. Please refer to the picture below, PVDD2 should be connected to a power supply because it is used to provide the control circuitry. So the customer may change to use CH2 and PVDD1 can be connected with a low ESR ceramic capacitor to GND.

    2. The different inductor value may also be caused by the different LIR the customer used.
