TLV700: Ouput overshoot & output capactior

Part Number: TLV700

Hi Team

When I use tlv70033 to power the CPU, I find that there is a large overshoot at the moment of power on, and I find that changing the output capacitor can reduce the overshoot. The specific circuit and waveform are shown in the figure below. The yellow line is VIN, and the orange line is Vout. Because the waveform of the EN pin is always high and there is no abnormality, it is not put on the waveform diagram.

In actual use, the output capacitance may be 50uf or more, but the output overshoot should be limited to 3.5V. Is there any good solution?

  1. Vin is 5V, Vout is 3.3V, output capacitance is 70uf, at this time, the output overshoot is about 3.5V

  1. Vin is 5V, Vout is 3.3V, output capacitance is 50uf, at this time, the output overshoot is about 3.5V

  1. Vin is 5V, Vout is 3.3V, output capacitance is 30uf, output overshoot is about 3.34V

Best Regards

  • Hello Wesley,

I see that you have included multiple 0.1uF capacitors to your solution - which is something that I would have recommended to remove ESR.

Would it be possible to improve your probe connections as well, to reduce the inductance on the line?

Another thing that we could recommend would be to increase the input capacitors, since it seems that the Input droops considerably.

Let me know if any of those solutions work, otherwise we can try again.

    Best,

    Julie
