SM72295: Maximum duty cycle

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer would like to know if there is a limit to the maximum duty cycle of the SM72295? if so what it is?
They are planning on using it from 12V to power a 10V thermoelectric cooler, so they would need max duty cycle of ~84%, will it be able to give such D.C?

Hello Cedrick,

The maximum duty cycle you mention is not a specific limitation on the SM72295 driver, but there are considerations for making sure the bootstrap capacitor is charged and maintains charge when the high side FET is at high duty cycle and the low side FET is at low duty cycle.

The UCC27282 is a newer half bridge driver which has good application guidance for choosing the driver component values in the application information section. I would recommend the customer review their application details to chose the boostrap capacitance and VDD capacitance.
