Hi Linna,
Thanks for reaching out to us. I am working on your query and will get back to you within a couple of hours.
Hi Linna,
Can you please help provide the following details,
Hi Praveen,
Thanks for replying me.
The LOT is 1011078EM1.
We used Q-Tips to rub the acetone on the surface, which lead to the dissolution of the paint. The acetone we use attached.
We used a new camera with a shadow effect mode, which shows the paint brush strokes on the part (this part was not treated with acetone, so you could see the surface irregularities).
Looking forward to your feedback, thank you and best regards.
Hi Linna,
TI follows JESD22-B107D for marking permanency test and specs are different for laser marked and ink marked packages as mentioned in the JEDEC standard. Looks like acetone is not listed in this standard. May we know purpose of this test ?
Hi Praveen,
Is it means that the acetone test can't be used to test if the ink marked package parts are from original?
Because not just form origianl direct and authorized distributor, sometimes we bought parts from brokers. Acetone test is one of the methods we used to test if the parts are new&original.
The LOT:1011078EM1 we bought them from authorized distributor, we test them with acetone and the shadow effect mode camera for comparing what we bought from other sources.
Hi Linna,
Thanks for the information. I understand why you are doing this test now. Let me check with my internal team and get back to you within 2 days on the validity of using Acetone and verify the Lot no. that you have provided.
Hi Linna,
Please see our quality team's response below:
The laser dust can be removed by acetone for the laser marked packages but the groove should be visible from the side. From the LOT code provided by you, we can confirm that the devices are authentic. Please let us know the lot code next time you want to confirm the authenticity of devices.
Hi Linna,
Yes, the package is Laser marked and not ink marked.
Does the package surface turn irregular after applying acetone ?
Hi Linna,
Can you share the images of IC before applying acetone where you can see the irregular surface. On how many Samples did you see this observation ?
Hi Parveen,
We took 1 sample randomly. The backside of the part has scratches sign(irregularities) before we applied anything to the part. Pic attached.
Do yo have any idea why?
Hi Linna,
The image you have shared above seems to be in a different format. Can you share a image similar to the one below so that we can see the scratches sign(irregularities) clearly.
Hi Praveen,
It's not a different format, we used a camera with a shadow effect mode, which can see the paint brush strokes on the part.
Hi Linna,
Got it.. It would be great if you can share the normal image as well. Meanwhile, I will check with our team if we can give you a response based on the image that you shared in shadow effect mode.
Hi Praveen,
I have got some pics from the warehouse took before but they're not the pics for the backside, no sure if these would help.
Hi Linna,
The scratches that you mentioned were observed only on the back side of the IC. The top side of the IC is normal, right ?
Thanks for the confirmation Linna. I am working with our quality team to answer your question. By the way, do you see scratches on all of the samples ?
Hi Linna,
Can you confirm if you have seen similar scratches on all of the samples you have received or on only few of them ?
Also the lot code of this sample is LOT:1011078EM1 , right ?
Hi Praveen,
I'm sorry for didn't get you a quick answer here. I had forward the same question to warehouse but have got reply yet, they were too busy lately and some of them are on holiday. I'll let you know once I got the feedback.
And Yes, the LOT is 1011078EM1 for the sample.
Hi Praveen,
Thank you for your patience.
We took around 4 to 5 samples and they all seemed to have scratches. We do usually not take out more parts to leave the tapes intact.
Hi Linna,
I don't think this should be a problem as we have verified the LOT code to be valid. If you can provide the images of scratches on all the 4-5 samples, I will verify this with our quality team again.
Hi Parveen,
Can you use the pic that I have already sent to applied to the whole reel parts? They clearly have unusual scratches and it seems other reels don't have such scratches.
We believe that this LOT is from original but why this reel is so special?
Thanks for confirming that there are no scratches on ICs of other LOTs. I am already verifying why this could be have happened. Will get back to you soon.
