LMR50410: Availability and second source

Part Number: LMR50410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2575HV, TPS54160, TPS54162-Q1, LM43601, TPS560430, LMR14010A, LV2862

Hello,

I would like to use the LMR50410XDBV in a new design, as 24V --> 5V and 24V --> 15V DC/DC converters, with a maximum current < 500mA. I started the development many months ago with an EVM and the IC was available both from TI and distributors, but now it isn't, I guess due to the global semiconductor crisis 2020-2021. In my design, I planned to use, as second source, the non-synchronous buck converter LMR14010, providing PCB space for the external diode, but it has the same problem of availability.

This solution replaces a previous design with LM2675M-ADJ, for cost and space reduction.

My questions are:

  1. are there other components that can be actually evaluated as second-sources for LMR50410/LMR14010?
  2. do you know something more about availability of these ICs? Some distributors talk about more than 1 year LT, others about 6 months. I would like to know if TI can give an estimate of when the situation will return to normal, if it is due to the global chip shortage or if this chip family has and will have specific production/sourcing issues.

Many thanks,

Alessio
