BQ24172: Q1 ACFET burning out

Part Number: BQ24172

Hello,

We are using BQ24172RGYR IC in our design to charge 7.4V 13500mA Lithium Polymer battery.

The input voltage is 12VDC and input current is set max to 1.6A (ACSET) but its only using 1.3A during charging.

The battery charging current is set max to 1.92A (ISET). During production we have notice lot of Q1 (ACFET) failures.  We have designed this board mainly based on BQ24172EVM-706-15V board. After doing some research on it. This seems to be a known issue.  The below 2 forums suggests changing Cgd from 4700pF to 1nF that might help solve this issue.

But the below forum suggests completely removing Cgd to remove the coupling.

Which method should I follow?

Thanks
