LM5170: MCU for LM5170

Can we use LM5170 as a Boost control mode without MCU?

Also, what modifications does TI recommend to use LM5170 as a Boost control mode with input 12 V current 1A and output with a resistor load?

Hi Jeet,

The LM5170 EVM is a good starting point. You don't need an MCU to run the EVM. It has all the sensing, feedback and compensation on the board, all in analog, and can run in current mode bi-directional, and voltage mode buck and boost. I tried running LM5170EVM in boost mode without MCU.

I have shorted the two pads of circuit breaker on the bottom side. 

My Low side power supply input voltage is 12V and have kept the power supply in CC mode with current set to 1A.

Output is a electronics load with resistance set to 100 ohms.

My Jumper settings:

J1 = Not connected

J2 = Connected

J3 = Connected

J4 = Connected

J5 = (2,3) connected

J6 = Not connected

J7 = Not connected

J8 = Not connected

J13 = not connected

J14, J15, J16, J19, J20, J22, J23, J24, J25, J26   = Not connected

J21 = (1,2) Connected

J27 = Connected

J28 = (2,3) connected

J29 = (1,2) connected

J30 = (2,3) connected

J31 = (1,2) connected

J32 = Not connected

J33 = Not connected

J34, J35, J36, J37 = Connected

I start my system with turning electronics load On and then Low side power supply On.

After, starting the system the input side current is 0 A. it seems the EVM is not responding.

May I know what changes are required. 

Also, the output voltage is similar to input voltage either 13 V.

While testing the system with electronic load under Constant current (0.2A) and increasing the input voltage to 13. The output voltage becomes 12.36 V with input and output current 0.2A.

Under Boost control operation the output voltage should be 50.5 V am I correct?
