TPS65279: output inductor selection

Part Number: TPS65279

Hello Experts,

Do you have the application note for Inductor selection except the datasheet? Customer is facing temperature rising issue of the Inductor. (Customer mentioned that the output current level does not affect to this issue.)

Also customer would like to simulate a phase margin of TPS65279RHH by PSpice for TI. Can customer simulate it?

Best Regards,
Fujiwara

  • Hi Fujiwara

Please refer to the application note here. For the issue, what do you mean by the output current level does not affect this issue? Does the issue still exist even if it is open load? The bad thermal performance may be caused by: 1. high DCR of the inductor 2. large core loss of the inductor (Δi and the material of the core) 3. the package of the inductor. I would suggest to catch the inductor current waveform first and check whether there is any other reason causing this issue and then change another inductor to see whether the issue can be handled and last check the design,

For the phase margin simulation, the customer can use Pspice for TI.

    Thanks.
