TPS68470: PMIC is malfunctioning

Part Number: TPS68470

Hi Sir,

When enter the I2C command on the right, PMIC is malfunctioning.
There are 2 cases of PMIC behavior.

[Case 1]  ANA_OUT / S_IO_OUT / CORE => OK
                HCLKA => NG (Waveform abnormality)

*CORE waveform is the secondary side of the power inductor

Why the HCLKA output at 40MHz?

[Case2]  ANA_OUT / S_IO_OUT =>OK
               CORE / HCLKA => NG (No output)

Could you tell us the cause of this phenomenon (Power sequence? I2C command? or other?)

  • Hi,

    I am reviewing the schematic and I2C sequence. In parallel can you please share:

    1. What is the difference between case 1 and case 2?
      1. Do they occur after different I2C commands? If so, which commands?
      2. Are there any other differences (different PCB/unit/etc.)?
    2. Have these cases been observed on multiple PCBs?
    3. Have these cases been observed on the same PCB with multiple units?

    Thanks,

    Gerard

  • Hi Sir,

    The customer replied to your questions as below.

    1. What is the difference between case 1 and case 2?
    2. Do they occur after different I2C commands? If so, which commands?

    ->No, they occur after same I2C commands.

    1. Are there any other differences (different PCB/unit/etc.)?

    ->Different PCB with the same design.

    Therefore units of PMIC are different between case 1 and case 2.

    1. Have these cases been observed on multiple PCBs?

    -> Yes.

    1. Have these cases been observed on the same PCB with multiple units?

    -> Yes, Replacing the PMIC will improve it.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the feedback. After which I2C command do you observe the error?

    Thanks,

    Gerard
