LM5170-Q1: Break Function with HV - LV < 8.5V

Part Number: LM5170-Q1

Hello,

We would like to use the break function on the LM5170-Q1 while having Vin=20V and Vout=16.5V.

Our MOSFET has a Vgsth < 2V. Is there an internal reason why this would not work?

Best regards,

Ambroise

  • Hi Ambroise,

20V to 16.5V just have 3.5V margin.  There are internal voltage drops from this 20V to the BRKG (not characterization data available), it seems too close to the 2V Vth of the FET.  If VIN=20V is just the min voltage in a transient, then I feel more comfortable.  Anyway, please ask the customer to test and check the Vgs across the breaker FETs.

    Thanks,
