[FAQ] How does the safety timer and termination work on the battery chargers BQ24170 and BQ24610?

Part Number: BQ24170
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24610, BQ24171, BQ24123, BQ24172, BQ24618, BQ24103A, BQ24113, BQ24616, BQ24115, BQ24113A, BQ24108, BQ24109, BQ24133, BQ24104, BQ24105, BQ24617, BQ24103, BQ24100, BQ24630, BQ24105-Q1, BQ24125, BQ24120

The TTC pin of BQ24170 and BQ24610 and a capacitor from the pin to GND functions as a fast charge safety timer and termination control. The capacitance of the capacitor is calculated by the desired fast charging timer divided by KTCC as specified on the datasheet. Please program the timer within the allowed range. Pulling the TTC pin low disables the charge termination and safety timer while tying the TTC pin high disables the safety timer only but allows charge termination.

The same operation principle applies to the following chargers: BQ24120, BQ24123, BQ24125, BQ24133, BQ24171, BQ24172, BQ24100, BQ24103, BQ24103A, BQ24104, BQ24105, BQ24105-Q1, BQ24108, BQ24109, BQ24113, BQ24113A, BQ24115, BQ24616, BQ24617, BQ24618, and BQ24630.
